Mussels with Chipotle, Lime Butter & Orange

Bring seafood alive with our smokey, citrusy, deliciously rich and vibrant Chipotle & Lime butter.  Just add some fresh orange and red onion or shallot to make a mouthwatering meal.  Pair with an oak smoked Chardonnay or a craft Pale Ale for a party in your mouth.

WITH FLAVOUR FIEND’S Chipotle & Lime Butter




1 Kilo  Fresh Live Mussels

3/4 cup  Fresh Orange Juice

2  Small Oranges

1/2  Red onion or 2 shallots

Fresh coriander to garnish


  1. Scrub mussels, remove beards and drain well.
  2. Zest, peel and dice orange.
  3. Dice onion.
  4. Heat oil to smoking point in a large pan
  5. Add mussels to pan and fry for 1 minute then add onion.
  6. Fry for further 30 seconds then add juice (and a tablespoon white wine optional)
  7. Boil until mussels are all open.
  8. Add half a teaspoon of zest, diced orange and half the tub of Chipotle & Lime Finishing Butter.
  9. Serve as butter melts and dive into the wicked sauce with some crusty French bread.
